To put it simply, it is a graphic front end of Dynamips. It is easier to get started and operable to use virtual software like Dynamips directly.
GNS3 integrates the following software:
Dynamips: A simulator that allows users to directly run the CISCO system (iOS)
Dynagen: The front end of the text of Dynamips
PEMU: PIX firewall device simulator.
WinPCAP: Windows platform is free, public network access system. Develop the WinPCAP item
The purpose is to provide Win32 applications with the ability to access the bottom of the network.
