Basic introduction
soapUI is an open source testing tool that checks, calls, and implements function/load/compliance testing of Web Services through soap/http. This tool can be used as a standalone testing software or integrated into Eclipse, maven2.X, Netbeans and intellij using plug-ins. soapUI pro is a commercial non-open source version of soapUI, which implements more functions than the open source soapUI.
SOAPUI[1] is a complete automated testing solution. In a test environment, it provides support for industry-leading technologies and standards, from SOAP and REST web services, JMS enterprise messaging layers, databases, rich Internet applications, and more. And in SOAPUI, you get all this from its intuitive and powerful user interface. For a higher degree of automation, SOAPUI also provides command line tools that let you run functional/load tests and almost any task scheduler, or set of MockServices as an integral part of your build process. For those who want to go the extra mile with automation, SOAPUI always gives you the scripting option. This is automation at its finest!
Software features
SOAPUI is not only a great testing application but a huge extensible testing framework. With its modular design and powerful extension API, SOAPUI allows anyone to easily develop plugins with their favorite functionality. Alternatively, you can get a third-party plug-in available - Agiletestware, SOA DataPro, TestMaker and Pegamento. They are all designed to make you more efficient and help you do more with SOAPUI. SOAPUI also integrates into IDEs and other tools of your choice to become an integral part of your development process. There are plugins for IntelliJ IDEA, Maven, Eclipse, NetBeans and JBoss.
