The WD Firmware Updater utility updates the firmware on your My Book or My Passport hard drive and the program walks you through the firmware update.
Before running this program, make sure:
1. Back up the data in the device;
2. The device must be connected to the USB port to update the firmware, and there must be an available USB port on the computer;
3. If using a laptop, please ensure that the battery is fully charged during the firmware update and do not disconnect or interrupt the power supply of the device;
4. Close the corresponding anti-virus software;
5. Any programs that need to access the device during the firmware update must be disabled;
6. Firmware update requires connection to the Internet, please ensure that the network is open.
Recently, Western Digital released version 3.2.0.8d of the firmware upgrade tool. This version is suitable for Windows systems and is recommended for users to download and use.
