VM virtual machine highlights
Provides one of the most secure virtual machine management processes in the industry. Users can run programs on a secure second desktop by applying different privacy settings, specialized tools, and network configurations, or use forensic tools to investigate operating system vulnerabilities. This provides IT security professionals with powerful capabilities, ensuring they can conduct analysis and testing in an isolated and secure environment.
This software allows users to run multiple operating systems simultaneously on the same Windows or Linux computer. Users can create real Linux and Windows virtual machines, as well as other desktop, server and tablet environments. In addition, it supports configurable virtual Internet and system condition simulation to meet various needs such as coding development, solution architecture, application software testing, product demonstration, etc.
VM virtual machine features
Connect to VMware vSphere
VMware Workstation Pro supports secure connections to vSphere, ESXi or other Workstation servers to run, control and manage virtual machines (VMs) and physical servers. This universal virtual machine management process maximizes productivity and easily transfers VMs between local PCs.
Cross-platform R&D and testing
The software supports hundreds of operating systems and works with cloud and container technologies like Docker. This means that users can develop and test software for different platforms on a unified platform, greatly improving development efficiency and compatibility.
VM virtual machine functions
Multi-operating system support: VMware Workstation Pro supports running multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, macOS, etc., providing users with great flexibility. This feature allows developers and testers to easily test the compatibility of their applications on different operating systems without the need for multiple physical computers.
High-performance virtualization: The software provides superior virtualization performance, allowing virtual machines to perform on par with standalone computers when running on physical hardware. It uses hardware acceleration technologies such as Intel VT-x and AMD-V to provide the best performance and response time.
Snapshots and Clones: Virtual machine snapshots are a powerful feature of VMware Workstation Pro that allow users to create snapshots of the current state of a virtual machine. This means users can easily back up virtual machines before making important changes and quickly restore to their previous state if something goes wrong. The cloning function allows users to quickly copy a virtual machine for further testing or development.
Advanced network functions: VMware Workstation Pro provides rich network functions, including virtual network editor, NAT network, bridged network, etc. Users can easily customize virtual network settings and simulate various network environments to test the network performance and security of applications.
Security and Isolation: Security is an important focus of VMware Workstation Pro. It provides security features such as virtual machine encryption, guest operating system security enhancements, and trusted platform modules to protect users' virtual machines and data from threats.
VM virtual machine FAQ
Virtual machine does not enable virtualization technology
Problem description:
The virtual machine prompts that virtualization technology, such as VT-x or AMD-V, is not enabled. This host supports AMD-V, but AMD-V is disabled.
Solution:
AMD-V or Intel VT-x is enabled in BIOS/firmware settings.
If BIOS/firmware settings were changed, restart the host.
If you never rebooted the host after installing VMware Workstation, reboot as well.
Virtual machine startup error
Problem description:
An error occurred when the virtual machine started, causing the virtual machine CPU to enter a shutdown state.
Possible reasons:
Wrong version in virtual machine files.
Misconfigured virtual machine.
Bug in the guest operating system.
Problem in VMware Workstation.
Solution:
Use Notepad or other text editing tools to open the virtual machine's configuration file (such as a .vmx file), check and modify the virtualHW.version value in it, and try to adjust it to a version compatible with the current VMware version.
Check and reconfigure the virtual machine's settings to make sure all settings are correct.
Check the guest operating system for problems, such as corrupt files or configuration errors, and try to repair or reinstall the operating system.
Try updating or reinstalling VMware Workstation.
