Ghost software features
Ghost is an excellent hard disk copy tool. It can copy the entire contents of one disk to another disk, or it can copy the disk contents into a disk image file. You can use the image file to create a copy of the original disk later. It can minimize the time you spend each time installing operating systems such as Win95, WinNT and OS/2. If you have several machines with similar configurations that need to install Win95, you will find that using GHOST makes things very simple. GHOST runs under DOS and can be run from a DOS boot disk.

1. Partition backup
There are two ways to use Ghost for system backup: the entire hard disk (Disk) and the partitioned hard disk (Partition). Click the Local item in the menu, and there are three sub-items in the menu that pops up on the right. Disk means backing up the entire hard disk (i.e. cloning), Partition means backing up a single partition of the hard disk, and Check means checking the hard disk or backed-up files to see if the backup or restore fails due to partition or hard disk damage, etc. Partition backup is used by individual users to save system data, especially when restoring and copying system partitions.
Select the Local→Partition→To Image menu to pop up the hard disk selection window and start the partition backup operation. Click the white hard disk information bar in the window, select the hard disk, enter the window, and select the partition to be operated (if there is no mouse, you can use the keyboard to operate: TAB key to switch, Enter key to confirm, and arrow keys to select). In the pop-up window, select the directory path of the backup storage and enter the backup file name. Note that the backup file name has the suffix GHO. Next, the program will ask whether to compress the backup data and give 3 options: No means no compression, Fast means the compression ratio is small but the backup speed is fast, and High means the compression ratio is high but the backup speed is very slow. Finally, select the Yes button to start backing up the partitioned hard drive. Ghost backup is very fast and can be completed without waiting for a long time. The backed up files are stored in the set directory with the GHO suffix name.
