Introduction to topology diagram
The topological structure diagram refers to the network structure diagram composed of network node equipment and communication media. When choosing a topology, the main factors to consider are: relative ease of installation, ease of reconfiguration, relative ease of maintenance, and the condition of the affected equipment if the communication medium fails.

Star structure
The star structure is a processing system with a node as the center. Various types of network-connected machines are directly connected to the central node by physical links. The advantages of the star structure are simple structure, easy network construction, and relatively simple control. Its disadvantages are that it is centralized control, the master node is overloaded, reliability is low, and communication line utilization is low.
Bus structure
The bus structure is a relatively common method. It connects all networked computers to a communication line. In order to prevent signal reflection, terminators are generally connected to both ends of the bus to match the line impedance. The advantages of the bus structure are high channel utilization, simple structure, and relatively cheap price. The disadvantage is that only two network nodes can communicate with each other at the same time, the network extension distance is limited, and the number of nodes the network can accommodate is limited. As long as there is a connection problem at one point on the bus, it will affect the normal operation of the entire network. At present, this structure is mostly used in local area networks.
Ring structure
The ring structure is to connect each networked computer into a closed ring using communication lines. Ring topology is a point-to-point ring structure. Each device is connected to the ring directly or through an interface device and drop cables. During initial installation, a ring topology network is relatively simple. As the number of nodes on the network increases, the difficulty of reconfiguration also increases, and there are restrictions on the maximum length of the ring and the total number of devices on the ring. The fault point of the cable can be easily found. The range of equipment affected by the failure is large, and any error that occurs on a single-ring system will affect all equipment on the network.
Tree structure
An extension of the star network topology is the star tree, as shown in the figure on the left. The connection between each Hub and end users is still a star, and the cascade of Hubs forms a tree. However, it should be noted that the number of Hub cascades is limited and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. The tree structure is a hierarchical centralized control network. Compared with the star structure, its total length of communication lines is shorter, the cost is lower, the nodes are easy to expand, and it is more convenient to find paths. However, except for the leaf nodes and their connected lines, any Failure of a node or its connected lines will affect the system. Applicable occasions: only suitable for low-speed signals that do not require impedance control. For example, when there is no power layer, this topology can be used for power supply wiring.
Network structure
The mesh structure is divided into two forms: fully connected mesh and incompletely connected mesh. In a fully connected mesh, each node has links to other nodes in the network. In an incompletely connected network, there may not necessarily be a direct link between two nodes, and the communication between them relies on other nodes for transfer. The advantage of this kind of network is that there are many paths between nodes, collisions and congestion can be greatly reduced, local faults will not affect the normal operation of the entire network, and the reliability is high; network expansion and host access to the network are relatively flexible and simple. However, this kind of network relationship is complex, network construction is difficult, and the network control mechanism is complex. In wide area networks, incompletely connected mesh structures are generally used.
Hybrid Topology
It means that two or more topologies are used at the same time. Advantages: You can learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses in the basic topology of the network. Disadvantages: Network configuration is difficult
Cellular topology
The cellular topology is a commonly used structure in wireless LANs. It is characterized by point-to-point and multi-point transmission through wireless transmission media (microwave, satellite, infrared, etc.). It is a wireless network suitable for city networks, campus networks, and enterprise networks.
