The AVCHD format allows you to play the same type of content equivalent to Blu-ray HD resolution (1080p), but is based on DVD5 or DVD9 media. The ideal situation would be to have a smaller size and maintain high Blu-ray quality.
The idea of BDtoAVCHD is to be very simple and fast to use, get the best quality from a DVD5 and avoid unnecessary conversions as much as possible. With it you don't have to install any codecs, like Avisynth, ffdshow or Haali splitter, etc., and you end up with files that are compatible with almost any Blu-ray player or PS3.
