Using Dataedo, you can quickly generate documentation for your existing database.
2. Discover and record table relationships
Dataedo reads foreign keys from the database schema into the repository and enables users to add missing relationships to the same model, achieving a complete and consistent view of the data model.

Dataedo imports dependencies from the database and allows you to browse and navigate dependent objects in the user interface or exported documents.

1. Automatically import schema changes
Dataedo allows you to easily import changes from your source database to ensure the latest state of your database is recorded.
2. Document progress tracking
In the Dataedo interface, you can browse the progress of the document and see which objects still need to be described.
3. Module
Dataedo enables you to define modules that can represent subject areas or topics and split large databases into smaller, more digestible parts.
4. Custom metadata fields
You can add custom plain text fields to almost any data element and who owns the document, whether the column contains sensitive data, what the data source is or what the expected format is, and more.
5. Alias
The names of physical database objects are often misleading and confusing. You can provide aliases for data elements, such as tables or columns, to make them easier to understand.

1. Download this software from Huajun Software Park, unzip it, double-click the exe installation file, enter the license agreement interface, select "I accept the agreement", and click next
2. Select the installation destination. The default is C:Program Files (x86)Dataedo 7. You can click browse to modify it, and then click next.
3. Set the start menu folder, keep the default, and click next
4. Add additional tasks, check the shortcut options that need to be created, and click next.
5. Confirm the Dataedo installation information and click install to start the installation.

Import database schema
The first step is to connect to your database and import the schema into the Dataedo metadata repository.
Describe the schema and enhance the data model
Now to the documentation section. You can provide a description (and other metadata) for each schema object and element (table, column, key, stored procedure, etc.). You can also complete the data model with missing foreign keys or unique keys. This information will be stored in the repository.
Define module and group objects
To better understand large databases, you can spit them into smaller subject areas called modules. Define a list of modules and provide descriptions and assign database objects for each module.
Create ER diagram
For each module, you can visualize the physical data model using ER diagrams by dragging and dropping tables and views into the pane.
Export and share PDF, HTML or Excel
You can share documents using interactive HTML, well-formatted PDF or Excel.

Import schema changes
Whenever the schema of the database changes, just click the Update button (or schedule an automated task) to import it into the document without worrying about losing any descriptions.
