Function introduction
MyFirefox is Firefox auxiliary software made with Autoit. Its main functions are:
(1) Customize the paths of Firefox programs, configuration files, and cache folders;
(2) Used to create a portable version of Firefox, which will exit after starting Firefox and does not occupy resources;
(3) The portable version can be set as the default browser.
Before using MyFirefox, you need a Firefox that can run normally (either the original/green version/installation-free version) in order to extract the Firefox installation folder.

Instructions for use
1.How to customize the path of Firefox program and configuration folder?
Place MyFirefox.exe in any folder, such as D:Johnson's Firefox or D:Johnson's Firefox. Run MyFirefox.exe, set the firefox path, configuration folder, etc. correctly, and press "OK". In the future, double-click MyFirefox.exe to directly start the Firefox browser with the specified configuration. If you want to reset, you can double-click the "MyFirefox Settings.vbs" file in the software directory to bring up the setting interface.
2. How to use MyFirefox to create a portable version of Firefox?
Copy MyFirefox.exe to any location (take D:Program filesMozilla Firefox as an example, it is recommended not to put it on the system disk);
Copy the entire Firefox installation folder (the default installation path of Firefox is C:Program FilesMozilla Firefox) to the D:Program filesMozilla Firefox folder, and rename the Firefox program folder to Firefox or Firefox 3, Firefox 4, etc. to distinguish it. In addition, create a configuration folder in the D:Program filesMozilla Firefox folder, or wait for a configuration folder to be automatically created after running MyFirefox.
Run MyFirefox.exe, set the firefox path, configuration folder, etc., and the Firefox portable version is completed! You can directly start the Firefox portable version by running MyFirefox.exe in the future, and there is no need to reconfigure Firefox even if you reinstall the system. For easy local use, you can right-click MyFirefox.exe to send a shortcut to the desktop.
You can also copy the Mozilla Firefox folder to a USB flash drive and run it, and your bookmarks and configurations can be taken with you.
3. How to set MyFirefox as the default browser?
MyFirefox does not force and automatically set Firefox as the default browser. Instead, it is based on the idea of redirecting the browser path to MyFirefox when it detects that Firefox launched by MyFirefox is set by you as the default. So to set the default follow these steps:
1) In the Firefox menu: Options->Advanced->General->System Defaults, click "Check Now". If "Firefox is not your default browser now. Do you want to make it your default browser?" appears, click "Yes".
2) Close Firefox and restart MyFirefox. Fully setting the default browser requires system administrator rights. If you are not logged in with an administrator account, a prompt may pop up asking you to run the program as an administrator, and you may need to enter the administrator password (the original Firefox may also pop up a similar prompt when setting the default for the first time).
In Win Vista / Win 7 systems, even if your account belongs to the administrator group, the program will still be run as a standard user by default, not as a system administrator, so a prompt may still pop up.
When the prompt "The currently configured Firefox has been set as your default browser" appears, MyFirefox has become your default browser. If this window does not appear, it means that the default browser has not been set successfully or is not set completely.
That's it. Don't go back to the Firefox menu to see if Firefox is the default browser. If you go to the Firefox options and click "Check Now", it will display again: "Firefox is not your default browser now...". Don't worry about it, the default browser now is MyFirefox, of course not Firefox!
3) After setting MyFirefox as the default browser, if the location or file name of MyFirefox changes, you must reset the default browser, otherwise Windows cannot find the browser. In addition, when running the USB disk, do not set it as the default.
4) If the setting is unsuccessful in Win8, open the control panel and set Firefox as the default in setting the default program.
FAQ
1. Does MyFirefox occupy resources?
The running time of MyFirefox.exe is very short. Firefox will exit immediately after starting it and does not occupy resources.
2. Will using MyFirefox prolong the startup time of Firefox?
Under normal circumstances, there is little impact on startup time. After testing, the startup time of MyFirefox is about 0.2 seconds longer than the original version of Firefox (corrected on November 19, 2008), which is invisible to humans.
3. Firefox has become the default browser, how can I set IE as the default again?
Open IE, Tools --- Internet Options --- Programs --- Check the box in front of "Check whether Internet Explorer is the default browser" and restart IE.
4. How to check whether the default browser is set successfully?
1) Click "Internet" on the WinXP start menu to start the default browser. The Win 7 start menu does not seem to have this item, but the browser displayed in the "Default Programs" of the start menu should correspond to the "Internet" item of XP.
2) Double-click the Internet shortcut to open it with the default browser.
3) Double-click the local HTML file and open it with the default browser.
4) Press the Internet key on the multimedia keyboard to start the default browser.
5) Click on the link in other software (such as QQ, Taobao Wangwang, etc.) and open it with the default browser. There are exceptions. For example, when clicking a link in the "Today's News" window of the qq2010 version, IE always pops up. Because QQ starts IE with an absolute address, other browsers with IE core can hijack IE, but browsers without IE core (Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) seem to be unable to do so.
6) Enter the URL in "Run" in the start menu and open it with the default browser.
Among the above items, item 1) requires administrator rights.
5. MyFirefox fails to be set as the default browser. What are the possible reasons?
1) Confirm whether you have administrator rights. If you do not have administrator rights, you cannot complete the settings in 4.1) above.
2) Confirm whether the Firefox program file is complete. Can Firefox itself started with MyFirefox be set as the default? In order to allow different versions and configurations of Firefox to exist at the same time, MyFirefox will only redirect the default browser to the corresponding MyFirefox when it detects that the Firefox started by it is set as the default. So if Firefox itself can't be set as the default, neither can MyFirefox. The original version of Firefox calls uninstallhelper.exe in the Firefox installation directory to complete the default browser settings and uninstall Firefox, so do not delete the uninstall folder.
3) Setting the default browser requires modifying the registry. After XX Guard or some anti-virus software turns on active defense, it may prevent MyFirefox from setting the default browser.
6. Why do some anti-virus software report MyFirefox as a virus?
Because MyFirefox is compiled with AHK/Autoit and uses UPX compression, some anti-virus software treats UPX compressed software as viruses. MyFirefox v2.3.2 no longer uses UPX compression, and the file size has increased slightly. When uploaded to http://virscan.org, the scan results show that none of the 37 anti-virus software reported viruses.
