Which stocks can become Southbound Stock Connect stocks?
Southbound Stock Connect stocks include constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Composite Large Cap Index, Hang Seng Composite Mid Cap Index and H shares of issuers that are not included in the aforementioned index constituent stocks but have stocks listed on both the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
The following stocks are not included in Southbound Trading, including (1) the corresponding H shares of A+H-share listed companies whose A shares are listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and are risk warning board stocks; (2) issuances that also have stocks listed on mainland stock exchanges other than the Shanghai Stock Exchange. (3) Stocks traded on the Stock Exchange quoted in currencies other than Hong Kong dollars. In addition, stocks with other special circumstances identified by the Shanghai Stock Exchange are not included. As of November 10, 2014, a total of 268 stocks can be included in the scope of Hong Kong Stock Connect.
What currencies do investors use to participate in Southbound Trading?
Southbound trading is quoted in Hong Kong dollars, and mainland investors actually pay or receive RMB when buying and selling Hong Kong stocks through Southbound trading.
