ZABBIX software introduction
Zabbix can monitor various network parameters to ensure the safe operation of the server system; and provides a flexible notification mechanism to allow system administrators to quickly locate/solve various existing problems.
Zabbix consists of two parts, zabbix server and the optional component zabbix agent.
zabbix server can pass SNMP, zabbix Agent, ping, port monitoring and other methods provide remote server/network status monitoring, data collection and other functions. It can run on Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Free BSD, Open BSD, OS X and other platforms.
ZABBIX software functions
1. Comprehensive monitoring
This feature enables scripted scenarios for complex data collection and reliable multi-step availability monitoring.
With support for the new metric type "Script", availability checks for cloud and microservices, applications and devices with HTTP endpoints have never been easier.
2. Zabbix insights
Get the most historical data! A new set of triggering capabilities enable long-term data analysis and provide powerful insights to detect anomalies and system anomalies.
Now you can get smart alerts on detected anomalies, such as “Total network traffic increased by 28% in September” or “New user registrations decreased by 12% last week.”
Trend analysis capabilities can be used not only for IT metrics, but also for KPIs to measure business performance, sales and marketing efficiency, customer support QoS, and more.
3. Store secrets in an external vault
Integration with HashiCorp Vault securely stores all sensitive information with fine-grained controlled access to tokens, passwords, certificates, encryption keys, API tokens, usernames and more.
All secrets are kept in a safe place outside of Zabbix
No sensitive data is stored in the Zabbix database
Your monitoring is ready for the most rigorous security audit
4. User roles to control permissions
Now, Zabbix supports flexible user roles, allowing for more granular management of user permissions to control access to various parts of the Zabbix UI, API methods and user operations.
It enables you to create secure customer portals, read-only users, dashboard-only users, super administrators with restricted privileges, and more.
Fine-grained controls for accessing Zabbix API methods make integration with third-party services more secure.
5. Monitoring of IoT and industrial equipment
Zabbix now supports Modbus and MQTT – the most common IoT protocols used for sensor and industrial equipment monitoring.
You can monitor IoT devices, sensors and various production equipment out of the box. No need to use additional software and third-party plug-ins.
MQTT is the standard messaging protocol for IoT. A native solution for monitoring messages published by an MQTT broker. Zabbix Agent2 supports it.
Modbus has become the de facto standard communications protocol and is now a common method of connecting industrial electronic equipment. Zabbix Agent and Zabbix Agent 2 support TCP and serial connections.
6. Load balancing of UI and API
Zabbix introduces the ability to scale Zabbix UI and API components across multiple nodes for speed, HA and redundancy.
7. Create a custom view
Zabbix provides the ability to save named complex filters and reuse them later with one click. For example, it can create different views of a problem for different services or data centers and switch between them on the fly.
8. YAML import/export
The more readable Yaml format becomes the new standard for templates and Zabbix import/export operations.
9. Built-in integration with alarm systems
Zabbix 5.2 introduces a new set of out-of-the-box integrations with industry-standard alerting and notification systems, including Slack, Pushover, Discord, Telegram, VictorOps, Microsoft Teams, SINGNL4, Mattermost, OpsGenie, PagerDuty, iLert
10. Built-in integration with ITSM system
Zabbix introduces a new set of ready-made integrations with industry-specific cloud-based native ITSM systems, including Jira, Jira ServiceDesk, Redmine, ServiceNow, Zendesk, OTRS, Zammad, Solarwinds Service Desk, TOPdesk, SysAid.
Introduced formal webhook coding guidelines to set standards and simplify the creation of webhook-based integrations.

11. New and updated templates and plugins
Most existing templates have been updated, and new templates and plugins have been introduced to monitor different services, applications and devices.
PostgreSQL, Nginx, ClickHouse, Windows, Memcached, HAProxy, Asterisk, Microsoft IIS, Oracle database, MSSQL, etc., PHP FPM, Squid.
