STANDARD Codecs for Windows 7/8/10 video and audio codecs is the first audio and video codec designed for Windows. The installer can automatically install popular codecs, and you can use Windows Media Player or Media Center to play your media files without any settings or adjustments. STANDARD Codecs does not include a player nor is it actively associated with file types. You can use any media player to play video/audio. It also supports online streaming media in multiple current mainstream formats. You can play videos directly in any browser, etc.

Software description

The following formats are supported: amr, mpc, ofr, divx, mka, ape, flac, evo, flv, m4b, mkv, ogg, ogv, ogm, rmvb, xvid.

The Settings app is 100% UAC compatible. What limits access is execution. (User Account Control) The application allows each user to maintain personal codec settings while seamlessly integrating any administrative commands directly into the user account. After opening the new user account, open the application to automatically inherit administrator settings detection.

Add files to Windows Media Player playlist

In the "Help" tab of the Settings application is a button that lets you select Windows Media Player file type associations. Once you use this button, you can add new related files to the Windows Media Player list as described below. If for some reason this doesn't work for you, go to the Back to Association button, click No twice in a row, and select Yes. No reboot required.

This also works for audio files such as FLAC, Ape or Qianqian.

Codecs are an issue for most users at one time or another. This is because there is no "box" solution that the average computer user can install and just have it work correctly from the start. There are a few decent codec blanket solutions out there, but none do everything I want. I've been tweaking, tweaking, and even reinstalling just to get the codecs I need and most of the time, the file still doesn't play well. This frustration led me to start making a codecpack, with all players based on it.
