DingTalk announces the launch of “Student ID”: parents can collect it and children can use it

Author: NetEase Technology Date: 2020-07-30

DingTalk launched the “Student Account” product, mainly targeting primary and secondary school students across the country.

The DingTalk student account is also regarded as the “student version of DingTalk”. It is reported that DingTalk student IDs can currently only be obtained through parents. Children can be eligible to receive student IDs after joining the DingTalk class group in their school. The DingTalk student ID received by parents is an 11-digit account number. When students use this account to log in to DingTalk, they will enter a pure version of the operation interface.

DingTalk said that the student account is a further exploration of home-school co-education and online learning scenarios, which can better meet the needs of student users and give them a more pure and focused learning environment.

"Most children and their parents share a DingTalk account. Some parents don't want their children to see their work information. At this time, they need to separate the accounts. In addition, children use their parents' accounts to attend classes at home during the holidays, and parents don't know whether their children use them. DingTalk does things that have nothing to do with learning. The launch of DingTalk student account will effectively solve these confusions among parents," said An Bu, the product manager of DingTalk Education.

DingTalk said that after logging in to DingTalk with a student account, the five operation buttons at the bottom of the "Student DingTalk" homepage have been reduced to three, and DingTalk "Workbench" and "Documents" are missing. At the same time, the DingTalk interface of the student account has added unique functions such as classmate groups, student exclusive medals, and student topic circles. In addition, parents can choose to turn on and off some functions of the student account to help their children focus more on learning and regulate their children's study habits.
