Q: Why can't I search some files?

Possible reasons:

The file is located on a non-NTFS partition (such as a USB flash drive in FAT32 format).

The file name contains special characters (such as *?<>"|), and the search term needs to be enclosed in quotation marks (such as "file*name").

File is not indexed (eg newly created file, wait a few seconds and try again).

The search scope does not include the target directory (check the directory filter to the left of the search box).

Q: How to search file content (not file name)?

A:

Uses content: syntax (such as content:hello), but is slower (because the content is not indexed).

Only text files (such as .txt, .csv) are supported, binary files (such as .exe, .pdf require plug-ins) are not supported.
