Translation Memory (TM) is at the heart of SDL Trados Studio, a language database that continuously saves your translations for future use as you work.

The original language is called the "source" language, and the language you want to translate to is called the "target" language. These language pairs are called Translation Units (TUs) and are saved for repeated use. This means that you don't need to translate the same sentences over and over again.

The more content you add to your translation memory, the faster subsequent translations will be because the growing database provides more "matches". This makes your translations more efficient, allowing you to take on more projects.

Bookmarks Bookmark translations as you work by adding tags or notes to any segment. Bookmarks are easily managed through a separate window, allowing translators and reviewers to jump to the last edited segment when opening a bilingual file.

Upgrade old translation memory

In Studio you'll find an easy-to-use upgrade wizard that simplifies the process of adding older translation memories (such as TMW, TTX, TMX, ITD) to SDL Trados Studio.

SDL Trados Studio installation tutorial

1. Download the SDL Trados Studio official version software package from Huajun Software Park, unzip it and double-click the SDLTradosStudio2019_SR2_15.2.0.1041.exe file, read the license agreement, and click accept
