Function introduction

Layout Manager Class Application Kit's view class provides the classic "struts and springs" positioning model relative to the superlayer. The layer class is compatible with this model, and Core Animation on Mac OS X provides a more flexible layout management mechanism, which allows developers to modify the layout manager themselves. Core Animation's CAConstraint class is a layout manager that allows you to specify sublayer classes to be constrained to a set of constraints that you specify.

Each constraint (encapsulated by an instance of the CAConstraint class) describes the relationship of a layer's geometric properties (left, right, top or bottom edge or horizontal or vertical center) to the geometric properties of one of its siblings or superlayer. Generic layout managers and constrained layout managers are discussed in the Layout Core Animation Layers section.

With support for keyframe animation, you can specify the keypath of the layer properties of the animation, including a value for each stage of the animation, as well as keyframe time and timing functions for a range of values. While the animation is running, each value is replaced by a specific inserted value. Core Animation and Cocoa Animation both use these animation classes.
