Microsoft will roll out new Edge browser to education and business PCs after July 30

Microsoft said today that it plans to start rolling out its Chromium-based Edge browser to PCs in education and business starting July 30. The update will start on Education PCs, with business PCs rolling out a little later.

Microsoft stated that "this update will not affect education business devices updated by Windows update for business (WUfB) or Windows Server update Services (WSUS). This update will first target education devices to adapt to the start of school."

K-12 education users will need to take a few extra steps to configure Education, but otherwise there is "no action required" on the user's part to get the new Edge.

Microsoft released a new Chromium-based Edge browser this year to replace the previous EdgeHTML core version. Additionally, while Windows 10 users have been able to manually download the new Edge browser since January of this year, it was only in recent weeks that Microsoft began pushing the update through Windows update.
