AMD releases 20.5.1 Beta GHS driver, officially supporting hardware GPU scheduling function

Author: Internet Date: 2020-06-30

AMD today added hardware GPU scheduling capabilities to the beta version of Adrenaline Driver.

Microsoft introduced a new hardware GPU scheduling feature in the 2020 Windows 10 May update. Although AMD has previously added this button to the official driver, it has no actual function.

As of today, AMD’s official website has announced the latest Adrenaline 20.5.1 Beta GHS version driver (GHS stands for Graphics Hardware Scheduling), which officially supports the hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling function of Windows 10. This feature can be turned on in the graphics settings of Windows system settings.

Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling will be used to increase the game's minimum and average frame rates and reduce lag, but requires a minimum SM 6.3-capable graphics card. Currently, AMD only supports this technology with its latest RX 5700/5600 series graphics cards.

Currently, this version of the driver is still in the testing phase, and using the unofficial version of the driver may cause some abnormal conditions to occur.

It is worth mentioning that Intel Core Graphics and Nvidia Independent Graphics have previously officially supported the hardware acceleration GPU scheduling function, and the corresponding driver version numbers are as low as 27.20.100.7859 and 450.12 respectively.
