It's still quite some time before Apple launches the "iPhone 12". The latest news is that the phone will support IEEE 802.11ay wireless transmission technology.

802.11ay is an upgrade to 802.11ad, which uses the 60GHz ultra-high frequency band for near-field transmission. This frequency band has less interference, low latency and high speed. It has been used in wireless VR headsets, streaming media screen projectors and other applications. For iPhone, AirDrop is an excellent carrier.

However, 802.11ay does not belong to the category of Wi-Fi6, but a small branch of Wi-Fi technology (WiGig). In fact, the iPhone 11 series already supports Wi-Fi6 (802.11ax, 2x2 MIMO).

In addition, the report also pointed out that NFC AirTags portable tracking tags will also appear with the iPhone 12 series. They support wireless charging and are backward compatible with iPhone 11/11 Pro.

Earlier reports predicted that Apple will ship 100 million iPhone 12 phones this year. The Pro series will be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate display, a ToF lens in the rear camera, and 6GB RAM.
