Modify image size in batches ISM

The Batch Image Resize Tool is a desktop application developed based on Python, designed to help users quickly resize images in batches. The tool supports many common image formats (such as png, jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, webp), and provides flexible size adjustment options, including functions such as automatically calculating the aspect ratio, overwriting the original image, or saving as a new file.

How to use ISM to modify image size in batches

​ ​ 1. Start the software. Double-click to run the exe file to start the software. The software interface will display the following main functional areas:

​​​Folder selection: Used to select the folder containing pictures.

Width and height settings: Used to set the size of horizontal and vertical images.

​​Save method: Choose whether to overwrite the original image or save as a new file.

Image preview: Displays thumbnails of images in the folder.

Process button: Start processing the selected image.

​ ​ 2. Select the picture folder, click the Select Folder button, and select the folder containing the picture in the pop-up dialog box. The software will automatically scan the pictures in the folder and preview them in the Area displays thumbnails. If there are duplicate images in the folder (based on file path or MD5 hash value), the software will automatically skip and prompt.

​ ​ 3. Set the image size in the Horizontal Image Settings and Vertical Image Settings areas, enter the width and height respectively. If you want to maintain the image proportions, you can set the width or height to auto.

For example: horizontal image: width = 800, height = auto. Vertical image: width = auto, height = 1200. The software will automatically calculate the size of the other side based on the aspect ratio of the image.

​ ​ 4. Select the save method. In the Save method area, select one of the following two modes:

Overwrite the original image: directly modify the original image file.

​​Save as: Save the processed pictures to a new folder. After selecting Save, when you click the Process Picture button, a folder selection dialog box will pop up to specify the save path.

5. Preview and select pictures in Picture Preview area to view thumbnails of all images in the folder. Click on the picture thumbnail to switch the selected state of the picture: Selected state: The picture border is green. Unselected state: The picture border is white. The software will display the number of selected pictures in real time, for example: processed pictures (5/10 pictures).

​ ​ 6. Drag-and-drop file support allows you to drag folders or image files directly into the software interface. The software will automatically parse the dragged path and load the image into the image preview area.

​ ​ 7. Start processing the image. After confirming that the image size and saving method are set correctly, click the Process Image button. The software will display a progress bar and provide real-time feedback on the processing progress. After the processing is completed, a prompt box will pop up to display All image processing is completed. If you choose Save As, the processed image will be saved in the specified folder, and the _resized suffix will be added to the file name.

​ ​ 8. Clear the list If you need to process other folders, you can click the Clear List button. The software will clear the current folder and picture list and restore them to their initial state.

V1.2.0 version update:

​ ​ 1. Add the conversion of output formats, which can convert pictures into other formats (webp, gif, png, jpg, jpeg, png); among them, webp is the most compatible web picture format at present. Under the same effect, the size of webp pictures is smaller, especially when converting png to webp, the size is not small, which is especially suitable for websites.

​ ​ 2. Add support for image conversion in jfif format to facilitate batch conversion of jfif format images generated under special circumstances into webp/jpg and other formats.

​ ​ 3. For animations in webp or gif format, the picture frame can be retained, and the size can be modified while maintaining the dynamic effect.

It is recommended that png, jpg/jpeg/jfif formats be exported to webp to obtain the best volume compression (GIF animations may not necessarily be smaller after being converted to webp, and the other formats will be smaller)
