Author: Twist Date: 2020-11-18

Today, Mozilla officially released Firefox 83. This version has a major update to the JavaScript engine SpiderMonkey, which improves the speed of the browser. Page loading performance is improved by 15%, page response is improved by 12%, and memory usage is reduced by 8%.

Firefox 83 officially introduces HTTPS-Only (only opens HTTPS) mode. When this mode is turned on, the browser will establish a completely secure connection with each website. Whether you click on an HTTP link or manually enter an HTTP address, Firefox will automatically replace it with an HTTPS page. If the visited website does not support HTTPS, Firefox will remind the user. You can turn this mode on in settings.

Mozilla officials also stated that Firefox 83 also supports new devices using Apple Silicon processors, supports the Apple Rosetta 2 emulator on the macOS Big Sur operating system, and will implement local compilation for these CPUs in future versions.
