After releasing the Chrome83 stable version on May 20, today Google released the ChromeOS83 stable version update. This version update mainly includes naming the virtual desktop, the option to display the password when logging in, using Google Assistant for multimedia sessions, adding tag group functions, etc.
Name your virtual desktop
Now you can name your virtual desktop to better organize your Chromebook. In Overview, click the virtual desktop name and enter a new name.
Show password when logging in
When you log in to your Chromebook, you can now reveal the password or PIN you entered by clicking the "Show Password" icon. This feature lets you double-check your password or PIN before entering your Chromebook.
Media session with Assistant
You can now control media sessions when using Assistant. You can tell the assistant to perform actions such as "Pause", "Next", "Continue", "Stop" and more.
To learn more about how to use Google Assistant on your Chromebook, visit the "Explore Google Assistant" section in the Help Center.
Using Google for Families on ChromeBook
Families can now use the following new Google for Families features on Chromebooks. For more information, visit the "Using Google for Families" section of the Help Center.
Tab groups on Chrome browser
Tab groups in Chrome help you organize your tabs, and they're now available on ChromeOS. Now, with a simple right-click, you can group your tab strips and label them with custom names and colors. Once tabs are grouped, you can move and reorder them on the tab strip. This feature should be rolled out gradually over the next month.
