NetworkManager is a network connection manager for most RPM and Debian distributions. Supports Ethernet, wireless connection. Networking in Linux shouldn't suck like it does now for desktop users. Desktop users shouldn't need to use the command line to configure their network, it should "just work" as much as possible and automatically intrude as little as possible into the user's workflow. The computer should use a wired network connection when it is plugged in, and automatically switch to a wireless connection when the user unplugs it and walks away from the desk. Likewise, when the user plugs in behind the computer, the computer should switch to a wired connection. Users should, most of the time, not even notice that their connection has been managed for them and they should just see uninterrupted network connectivity.
