Google Chrome recently launched the new Collections Hub, which is used to centralize controls for all media played through the browser into a single button. For example, you can control Spotify playback in one tab while you are working in Slack in another tab.

Now, the Chrome 86 browser can be set to further free up GMC controls by allowing users to drag them from the toolbar and float them anywhere on the screen (similar to the video playback in the picture).
Additionally, the new GMC media controls also allow users to pop a video into picture-in-picture mode with the press of a button, rather than having to right-click on the video twice.
This option can be activated in the Chrome Canary 86 browser by searching for "Enable overlay controls for Global Media Controls" in chrome://flags.
Chrome 86 stable version of the browser is expected to be released to mainstream users sometime in October this year.
