If you use non-Outlook software to process emails from Outlook and Exchange Server, you are likely to encounter emails with winmail.dat attachments, and you have no idea how to open this attachment. Even worse, the file originally attached to the email is unfortunately eaten by this winmail.dat. You may ask the sender of this email. At this time, the other party is probably confused because they use Outlook very well and have never heard of this problem. To put it bluntly, they have no idea what you are talking about.
So what is this winmail.dat? When MS tools encode and package your emails for sending, if you follow the default designated RTF format, the format information will be stored in the email body according to MS's own set of standards, causing non-Outlook clients to not recognize it and unable to parse it correctly.
