Steps to take before installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
1. In order to download and install Windows 7 SP1, you must currently have a production release version (RTM) of Windows 7 installed.
2. If a pre-release version of Windows 7 SP1 was previously installed on your computer, you must uninstall that version before you can install SP1.
3. When installing Windows 7 SP1, you can use the same languages provided in the initial version of Windows 7.
4. Check whether your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit?
How to check: You need to know whether your computer is running a 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) version of Windows 7. Select the Start button, right-click Computer, and then select Properties. The version of Windows 7 appears next to "System type."
How to upgrade windows 7 service pack 1 (sp1)?
1. To know whether Windows 7 SP1 has been installed, click the "Start" button, right-click "Computer", and then click "Properties". If Service Pack 1 is listed under Windows Version, SP1 is already installed on your computer, otherwise SP1 is not installed. As shown below:
2. If it is not installed, click the "Start" button, "All Programs" and "Windows Update" in sequence. In the left pane, click Check for Updates. 7. After the installation is complete, log in to the computer when the Windows login prompt appears. You may see a notification indicating whether the update was successful.
Note: If you disabled your antivirus software, re-enable it now.
