ROM loading and identification issues
1. Problem manifestation
MAME cannot recognize the ROM file and the game list is not displayed.
It prompts "ROM missing" or verification failed.
2. Solution
Confirm ROM format and path:
The ROM file must be in ZIP format and not unzipped, placed in the roms folder under the MAME root directory.
After starting MAME, press the F5 key to refresh the game list.
Verify ROM integrity:
Use a tool like ClrMAME or Romulus to verify the ROM's CRC32 value to make sure the file is not corrupted.
When downloading the ROM, choose the "non-merged" version (such as "non-merged") to avoid relying on other files.
Check BIOS file:
