TurboMosaic Features
1. Use each tile image at least once
Suppose you are making a photo mosaic using headshots of school students. Obviously, you need to make sure that each tile picture you have added is used at least once in the mosaic. The "Use each tile image at least once" setting ensures that each tile image is used at least once in the mosaic.
If this setting is unchecked, the tessellation algorithm will select the best matching image for each cell. In this case, some tile pictures that don't match any cell may not be used in your mosaic.
2. Repeat spacing
The repeat interval is the minimum number of tiled cells between cells using the same picture. Cells using mirror images are also considered duplicate cells.
3. Cell mirroring
Cell mirroring allows tiled images to be flipped horizontally. This option can produce better unit mapping because TurboMosaic provides more image options for the unit mapping algorithm.
4. Main photo overlay
Use this function to overlay the original main image on the output. We do not recommend using this option as this is a common approach taken by low-quality software/mosaic services that do not accurately map the tiles using the main image.
5. Tile spacing and background
Usually, you will make a mosaic with no spacing between tiles. However, you can spice up your mosaic by adding a small spacer with a backing color or a main image displayed through this space.
How to use TurboMosaic
Usually, you want to make a mosaic that doesn't duplicate images - use each image only once. In this case, you need at least as many tiles as there are cells in the mosaic. For example, in a mosaic of 25 rows and 30 columns, you need 25X30=750 pictures.
You can control the repetition of images by changing the spacing between repetitions. Increase repeat spacing to reduce duplicate images.
If you don’t want to repeat, use a very high value for repeat spacing. For example, in a mosaic with 25 rows and 30 columns, use a repeat spacing of 31 - this will ensure that the picture does not appear more than once. The tessellation algorithm attempts to best match the picture to the cell. Reducing duplication reduces the number of photo selections available per unit, which can result in lower quality mosaics.
We recommend using two methods to obtain higher quality mosaics:
1. Add a large number of tiled pictures
2. Force zero repeats by using very high repeat spacing values, and allow low repeats by using higher repeat spacing values.
picture. For example, a repeating spacing of 5 or 6 would work well in a mosaic of 25 rows and 30 columns.
TurboMosaic FAQ
How to adjust the shape and size of mosaic cells?
TurboMosaic allows users to select square, rectangular and other shaped cells and adjust the size of the cells. Users can find relevant setting options in the software interface and adjust them according to their needs.
