Published on October 23, 2013. With the massive popularity of solid-state drives, more and more users now own solid-state drives. However, solid-state drives are not perfect, and long-term use will cause the performance of solid-state drives to decrease. Therefore, all major solid-state drive manufacturers have released toolboxes for their own SSDs to facilitate user maintenance. They also regularly launch new firmware for solid-state drives to solve some bugs or adapt to new system environments. Intel SSD Toolbox is a dedicated SSD toolbox developed by Intel for its SSDs. The Intel SSD Toolbox has replaced version 3.0 with a new user interface, and also added the function of directly refreshing the SSD firmware in the Windows system and added multi-language support (supports Chinese display).
Intel's official website recently released the latest version 3.1.9 of the Intel SSD Toolbox solid state drive toolbox.

Intel SSD Toolbox has the following features:
Use management features to optimize Intel SSDs, System Configuration Tuner, and Secure Erase.
Reports identification data for Intel solid-state drives and other drives.
Use Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) for Intel solid-state drives and other drives.
Check the SMART thresholds for Intel solid-state drives as well as other drives and see recommended actions.
Use the diagnostic scan feature to check the SSD for read and write errors.
The latest 2.0.2 version of Intel SSD Toolbox has improved and optimized the secure erase function.
How to manually optimize SSD?
Step 1: After installing Intel SSD ToolBox, open the tool, select the SSD hard drive to be optimized, and then click the quick diagnosis button
Figure 3
Step 2: Click Run in the red box in the picture below to start optimization. Please ensure that the SSD has 1.5G of free space during the optimization process, otherwise the optimization may fail. In addition, during the process of optimizing the SSD, it will not affect the use of the SSD, so the SSD can be optimized at any time.
Note: This SSD optimization function actually performs garbage collection for the SSD. If garbage collection is done too frequently, it will affect the life of the SSD. Therefore, it is not recommended to optimize the SSD too frequently. It is recommended that you do optimization once a week.

How to automatically optimize SSD?
It is too complicated to perform manual operations every time. Can the optimization be done automatically? Of course you can, but Intel SSD ToolBox uses the operating system's scheduled task method to perform optimization tasks regularly. Therefore, to use the scheduled task method to optimize SSD, you must enable the scheduled task service, that is, "Task Scheduler" in the system, and start the service. Set the mode to automatic, as shown below:

If the scheduled task service will not be enabled, you can download the attachment, decompress it and run a batch process to enable the service.
