User interface menus and other text elements can be displayed in the following languages:
English
Chinese (Simplified)
Chinese (Traditional)
Multiple instances of BabelPad can be tiled (horizontally, vertically or patchwork), cascaded, minimized, maximized, restored
Instructions for use:
(1) Open very large files quickly:
The biggest advantage of this software is that it can open very large texts quickly. After testing, it is faster than other text editors to open the 90MB "Chinese Dictionary_Baidu Cloud Share". Opening 5-10MB txt texts such as "Modern Chinese Dictionary" and "Kangxi Dictionary" is much faster than cnbook.
(2) Scroll browsing form:
The scroll browsing mode of this software is different from other text editors. Whether you drag the scroll bar with the pointer or scroll with the mouse wheel, it scrolls according to the actual beginning of the text line.
Other text editors display the lines in sequence after word wrapping.
(3) Basic settings:
1. In the "View" menu, check only "Show main toolbar" and "Show status bar".
2. Customization settings of the main toolbar:
The order is: ①F (Font) is located after the "Print" button, select "Comprehensive Font"; ② (Font) is gray and cannot be selected; ③ (Font Size) 16; ④ (Line Spacing) 1-1.5. Others do not move.
3. Click "Font Menu/Set Comprehensive Font", and in the pop-up "Set Comprehensive Font" dialog box, make settings for using display fonts. ①The setting method is exactly the same as "BabelMap character mapping table". ② You can also import the originally exported comprehensive font configuration file "CompositeFont.xml" to restore the original configuration. ③After the comprehensive font is set, the comprehensive font can be used when editing text and using the character map. Can display all visible characters in the "BabelMap character mapping table".
4. The user setting information is in the C drive operating system, and the comprehensive font setting configuration folder path is: C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataBabelStoneBabelPad, but it is currently an empty folder.
Other custom settings configuration and open file history, the file directory location is not yet known.
(4) Can recognize all CJK characters.
1. In the editing area, position the cursor in front of a certain character. In the status bar, it will be displayed in sequence: ① the U+ code of the character; ② the Unicode name of the character; ③ the Chinese pinyin of the (Chinese) character.
2. After selecting the comprehensive font, the graphic text displayed by the "Symbola" font can be displayed in the editing area.
(5) Automatic identification of codes does not work:
1. Only "UTF-8" and "UTF-16" encoding can be automatically recognized. The "ANSI/OEM - Simplified Chinese GBK" encoding cannot be automatically recognized and needs to be selected manually.
2. Switch encoding: ① Click "File Menu/Reopen File", and reselect the encoding in the "Encoding" column at the bottom of the pop-up "Open File" dialog box. ②Encode the "ANSI/OEM - Simplified Chinese GBK" file and reopen the file/select to use "GB18030" to eliminate garbled characters.
3. If the source file is GBK and is edited by this software and saved directly, it will still be encoded in GBK. But when you reopen it with this software, it will still be garbled.
4. The "GB18030" encoded new file saved directly by this software is compatible with "GBK DOS", so when opened with cnbook, there will be no garbled characters (the "GB18030" converted by TP will be garbled when opened with cnbook).
(6) Automatic line wrapping:
The "Word Wrap" button in the toolbar is located too far back, making it inconvenient to use. You can check (or uncheck) "Layout Menu/Word Wrap" to set automatic word wrapping.
(7) Workspace (edit bar):
1. In the right-click menu of the workspace, there is all the content in the "Conversion Menu".
2. In the right-click menu of the workspace, there are also: ① Repeat the previous word: Repeat the word in front of the cursor. ② Text reverse order: The selected text can be changed into reverse order.
(8) "Find and Replace" dialog box:
Although this software does not have a regular expression tool, the "Find and Replace" dialog box is more powerful than the normal mode. Specific positions such as "beginning of line, end of line, beginning of word, end of word" can be defined.
(9) "Edit Menu/Batch Replacement":
1. The batch replacement function is strong. After testing, it is easy to execute a replacement table of more than 300,000 items.
(10) Built-in character mapping table:
1. Click "Tools Menu/Character Mapping Table" to call up the built-in character mapping table.
2. The operation method is exactly the same as the "BabelMap" character mapping table. If the configuration is reasonable, comprehensive fonts can be used.
(11) Conversion menu:
1. In the "Conversion Menu/Chinese", you can convert between Traditional and Simplified Chinese. This feature is powerful and fast.
2. In the "Conversion Menu/Chinese", Chinese characters can be converted into standard pinyin with tones, such as "女nǚ, 路lù", which are clearly divided.
3. In "Conversion Menu/Others", after selecting the text, you can "Delete Diacritical Marks" (i.e., the tone symbols of Chinese Pinyin).
①This function can be used to create thesaurus.
②The flaw of this function is that "ü and u" are not distinguished. For example, "女nǚ,路lù" will be converted into "女nu,路lu". Before executing this function, "ü" needs to be converted to "v" first.
