Microsoft Research Asia has released a free software called Cliplets for making super dynamic GIF images. Cliplets let you select an object from a video clip, and because of this, only that object is animated while the rest of the screen remains static. This is a bit like a GIF picture, but more artistic.
Cliplets currently supports video formats: 3g2, 3g2p, 3gp, 3gpp, asf, avi, m4v, mov, mp4, sami, smi, wmv, xclp.
This software can create ultra-static GIF images - the user selects an object from the video clip, and only the selected object is dynamic, while the other parts are static. Recently, this software seems to start supporting animated Gif images. The laboratory said that because a large number of users have requested the function of supporting dynamic Gif pictures, they have recently added this function to the software.
Currently, Cliplet is a software that can be downloaded and used for free.
Software requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile support
