Synfig Studio overview
Synfig Studio (formerly SINFG) is a free, open source 2D vector and timeline-based animation software. It was created by Robert Quattlebaum (currently no longer involved) who decided in 2005 to make it open source under the GNU license. You can use this application to create features - movie-quality animations, web animations, advertisements, etc.
It has a long list of features such as: support for many layers (filters, gradients, warps, transformations, fractals and many others), spatial resolution independent, temporal resolution independent, High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI), pentablet friendly tools, oriented Artist designs, path-based gradients, and more. New features are being added all the time, such as skeletal tools or frame-by-frame animation, which expand the program's capabilities.
Synfig Studio software features
1. The official version of Synfig Studio can perform software rendering and use gradient performance, which can free the painter from the trouble of drawing shadows frame by frame (that is, shading processing).
2. There are a large number of real-time special effects that can be applied to layers or layer groups, such as radial blur effects, color adjustments, etc., which can be applied independently of resolution.
3. Other functions include the ability to control and animate line width and data related to connections between objects using line control points.
4. Synfig can use high dynamic range imaging technology, so that high-quality works can be produced with a small amount of manpower.
Synfig Studio software features
1. Spatial resolution independence
Most elements are vector-based and all layers are generated parametrically, so even when changing the target resolution of the project, the only pixelation that will appear in the imported raster image is the pixelation rather than the built-in components.
2. Time resolution independence
Animation keyframes are automatically interpolated by the computer to achieve smooth motion
3. High dynamic range imaging (HDRI)
By using floating-point math in image calculations, HDRI processing allows the canvas to internally understand a wider range of pixel brightnesses, producing better lighting effects and improved color composition.
4. Pentablet-friendly tools
The drawing tool already reads the pressure sensitivity channel from your favorite tablet for natural line widths, and more!
5. Design for artists
While it may not be obvious in this early state, Synfig (and its proprietary predecessors) were designed with animation workflows in mind.
6. Path-based gradient
Unlike purely SVG-based vector software and most consumer-grade animation programs, Synfig fully supports gradient paths - gradients along drawn shapes. This allows artists to easily add soft shadows to animations without having to paint them onto every frame.
7. Layers
Synfig supports many different types of layers; geometry, gradients, filters, twists, transforms, fractals and a few others.
Synfig Studio installation steps
1. Download the Synfig Studio software from Huajun Software Park, unzip it to the current folder, and click the MultiDotAlbum-v100.exe application.
2. After reading the interface content, we click iagree.
3. At this time, we usually leave it as the default, no need to change anything, and then click next.
4. Select the installation location of the software. Huajun editor recommends that users install it in the D drive, and then click install.
5. Synfig Studio is being installed, users are patiently waiting for the progress bar to be full.
6. The Synfig Studio installation is complete, click close.
