eDonkey software area

eMule is a client software known as peer-to-peer, a tool used to exchange data on the Internet. A user can obtain files from other users and can also distribute files to other users. The ancestor of eMule and other peer-to-peer client software is an mp3 sharing tool called "Napster" - although Napster is only a few years older than eMule, eMule technically surpasses Napster. Napster uses its own central server to connect the two dots, whereas eDonkey has hundreds or thousands of such servers - maintained by individual users.
