FreePic2Pdf official version is a professional small tool for converting picture files into PDF files. FreePic2Pdf official version has fast conversion speed and supports batch conversion. It can output to PDF files one by one or merge them into a single PDF file. FreePic2Pdf can help users convert image files in TIFF, PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF and other formats into pdf files.

Software features

FreePic2Pdf is completely free and has the following features:

1. For lossy/lossless compressed jpeg 2000 (jp2/j2k/jpc) files, or lossy compressed JPG files and TIFF files compressed using the JPEG/OJPEG algorithm, directly embed the original data stream into the PDF file to avoid re-compression. causing a decrease in image quality.

2. For other lossless compressed image files, black and white images are decoded and compressed into JBig2 (lossy/lossless) or CCITT G4, and other decoded images are compressed into ZIP data streams and embedded into PDF files. Although decoding/compression takes some time, it can reduce the PDF file size in most cases.

3. For black and white images, you can specify whether the background is transparent. If it is transparent, you can set the background color as needed when reading in PDF Reader (I am used to setting it to gray) to avoid looking tired with black text on a white background.

4. Supports multi-page TIFF and multi-frame (animated) GIF, each page or frame counts as one image.

5. You can specify the page size of the generated PDF file (in addition to A4, B5, etc., it also supports the commonly used domestic 32K, 16K, and Large 32K) and page margins. This specification will not cause the image data stream to be re- Sampling or compression, FreePic2Pdf official version only affects the data describing the image display size in the PDF, avoiding image quality degradation caused by resampling or compression.

6. If you do not specify the paper size of the page, you can specify a fixed width of the page (the length expands and contracts with the image size) to ensure that reading will not be affected by changing page width during continuous reading.

7. You can select the files that need to be converted, or you can specify the folder that needs to be converted; you can specify the file sorting method (alphabetical order, last numerical order, super star order); you can merge all image files into one PDF file, or Each image file can be converted into a PDF file separately.

8. Supports automatic generation of multi-level bookmarks (up to 3,000 items), segmented page numbers, adding text pages, and setting PDF Document Properties through the interface.

9. The interface file can be used for newly generated PDFs or existing PDFs. The official version of FreePic2Pdf includes adding bookmarks (up to 3000 items) to existing PDFs and extracting bookmarks from existing PDFs.

10. The generated PDF file only contains necessary information, so the generated PDF has the least nonsense while the PDF quality remains unchanged.

11. The software is implemented based on open source code and does not require the support of any third-party software or controls when running. Of course, if you want to browse the created PDF files, you must have PDF reading software such as Adobe PDF Reader installed on your machine.

Tutorial

1. Select the image file to be converted

If you select "Convert selected files" at this step, you can convert several files in one directory at a time, or convert files in multiple directories. After clicking the "Select Source File" button, you can select files (hold down the Ctrl or Shift key and click on the files to select multiple files). The selected files are arranged in a list, and you can sort, adjust the order, delete and other operations through the buttons provided on the toolbar. , double-clicking the file list will call the system default image browser to display the selected image. If the "Auto Clear" option is selected, each time you click the "Select Source File" button, the original content in the list will be cleared. If you need to convert files in multiple directories at one time, you need to click off this option and then select the files one by one. . Each time a file is selected, the files in the list will be sorted according to the sorting method specified by the "Auto Sort" option. If "None" is selected, automatic sorting will not be performed.

If you select "Convert files in specified folder", click the "Select Source Folder" button to select the folder. During conversion, the files in the source folder are filtered according to the "Convert Files" option, and then the filtered files are sorted according to the order specified by the "Sort Files" option.

You can also select the file or folder that needs to be converted in the resource manager first, and then drag it to the FreePic2Pdf interface. If a folder is dragged over, "Convert files in the specified folder" is automatically selected, otherwise "Convert selected files" is selected.

2. Select the storage location of the converted PDF file.

If you select "Save all into one PDF file" at this step, all image files will be merged into the PDF file selected by clicking the "Select PDF file" button.

If you select "Convert each image into a PDF file and store it in a folder", the converted PDF file will be stored in the specified folder.

If the "Use fixed files/folders" option is selected, the system will automatically remember the last used PDF files and folders. Otherwise, each time you click the "Select Source Folder" button, PDF files and folders will be automatically generated.

3. Set conversion parameters

Paper size (paper type, orientation, page margins): basically the same as Word: the generated PDF file has one image per page, automatically centered, and large images automatically reduced. What is special is that if you select "Image Size" for "Paper Size", the size of each page of the generated PDF will be set according to the image size (one image per page). If the image size is not uniform, the size of each page of the generated PDF will be set. It is also not uniform; if you select "Fixed Width", the width of each page of the PDF is fixed, and the length automatically expands and contracts according to the image size. Generally speaking, if the generated PDF is for printing, it is recommended to choose a suitable paper size; if it is for screen browsing, it is recommended to select "Fixed Width" or "Image Size". If the "Automatically enlarge small image" option is selected, when the image size is smaller than the size of the layout center, the image will be automatically enlarged to fit the layout center size, otherwise it will remain unchanged. If the image itself has a large white background, it may not be visible in the PDF file after setting the page margins. In this case, you can set the default background color to gray in PDF Reader to clearly see the range of the page margins.

PDF file initial view: This is the same as the setting in Acrobat's "Document Properties" and specifies how to display the document pages when opening the PDF file.

DPI of the original image file: When calculating the size of the image in the PDF, first divide the image pixel size by the DPI value to convert it into inches, and then multiply the inches by 72 to convert it into the logical size in the PDF. "Current screen DPI" can ensure that the size of the image seen in the PDF file is the same as the size of the image seen with other image viewing software. If "Fixed DPI" is manually set, the size of the image seen in the PDF file will be the same as the DPI value. Inverse proportion, that is, the larger the DPI, the smaller the image. The default 96 DPI is the DPI value when my 17" monitor is set to 1024*768. For TIFF files generated by scanning, the DPI value at the time of scanning is usually stated in the file. If you select "Prioritize image scanning DPI", it will automatically try to extract the DPI value from the image file (including TIFF, BMP, PNG, GIF, JPG in JFIF format, excluding JP2 and J2K) instead of the manually set DPI.

Set black and white TIFF to transparent: If selected (selected by default), the background of all black and white images is set to transparent. When reading in PDF Reader, you can set the background color as needed (I am used to setting it to gray) to avoid black text on a white background. It looks so tiring. If unchecked, the background color is white.

Enable interface file: If this option is selected (selected by default), the interface file in the source folder (the file name is fixed to FreePic2Pdf.itf) will be automatically read during conversion, and the minimum picture width, multi-layer image information, and text will be obtained from it. pages, bookmarks, etc. This interface file is usually generated by Pdg2Pic. If "Preface page prefix" and "Table of contents page number prefix" are empty, uppercase English letters and Roman numerals will be used to represent the cover page and table of contents page respectively, otherwise they will be represented by prefix + numbers.

Compression algorithms for image files other than JPEG and JPEG 2000: When converting graphic files to PDF, the JPEG and JPEG 2000 data streams are directly embedded in the PDF file. Other image files need to be recompressed before being stored in PDF. For black and white images, you can choose JBig2 lossless, JBig2 lossy, or CCITT G4. Usually JBig2 lossy compression has the largest compression ratio and the slowest speed; CCITT G4 has the smallest compression ratio and the fastest speed; JBig2 lossless is somewhere in between. For color/grayscale images, in order not to lose quality, all use ZIP compression, but use TIFF or PNG for preprocessing before compression, and the final compression ratio may be different. It is recommended to select the default "fastest" to speed up the process. Of course, you can also select "smallest size" to let the system automatically select the processing method with the largest compression ratio, but this comes at the cost of time.

Friendly reminder: The conversion parameters have a great impact on the reading effect of the converted PDF file. The official version of FreePic2Pdf may need to be adjusted and converted several times to obtain satisfactory results.

4. Start conversion

Start converting source files into PDF files. Click the "Abort" button during the conversion process to interrupt the conversion process.

If an error occurs during the conversion process, it will be reported after the conversion and asked whether to view the error record.

If all source files are merged into one PDF file, click the "Open PDF File" button after the conversion to open the file. Of course, the prerequisite is that Adobe PDF Reader or Adobe Acrobat Professional has been installed on your machine.

After the conversion is completed, click the "×" button in the upper right corner of the window to exit the program.
