Basic rules of Chinese chess
1. Commander (general): Commander (general) is the leader in chess and the goal that both sides strive for. It can only move within the nine palaces. It can move up or down, left or right. Each time it moves, it can only move one vertical or horizontal line. The commander and the general cannot face each other directly on the same straight line, otherwise the player who moves will lose.
2. Shi (Shi): Shi (Shi) is the personal bodyguard of the general (handsome), and it can only move around within the Nine Palaces. Its chess path is only four diagonal lines in the nine palaces.
3. Xiang (Xiang): The main function of Xiang (Xiang) is to defend and protect your commander (general). Its method of movement is to move two squares diagonally at a time, commonly known as "Xiang Feitian". The range of activities of the Xiang (Elephant) is limited to its own position within the river boundary, and it cannot cross the river. Moreover, if there is a chess piece in the center of the field it moves on, it cannot move. This is commonly known as "blocking the elephant's eye".
4. Rook: The rook is the most powerful in chess. It can move both horizontally and vertically. As long as there are no pieces blocking it, the number of moves is not limited. Therefore, one car can control seventeen points, so it is called "one car and ten cold points".
5. Cannon: When the cannon is not eating pieces, it moves exactly the same as the car. When capturing a piece, there must be one piece between your own and the opponent's pieces (regardless of the opponent's or your own pieces). Cannon is the only chess type in chess that can surpass pieces.
6. Horse: The way the horse moves is to move diagonally, that is, first move horizontally or vertically one square, and then move diagonally diagonally, which is commonly known as "horse walking day". The choice points that the horse can move at once can reach eight points around it, so there is a saying of "eight sides of majesty". If there are other chess pieces blocking the way to go, the horse will not be able to go there, which is commonly known as the "bad horse's leg".
7. Soldiers (Pawns): Before crossing the river, Soldiers (Pawns) can only move forward one step at a time. After crossing the river, except for retreating, they are allowed to move left and right, but only one step at a time. Even so, the power of Soldiers (Pawns) is greatly enhanced, so there is a saying that "a pawn crossing the river can carry half a cart."
