Recently, Google pushed Chrome 86 version update. The new version includes a large number of security enhancements for Android and iOS platforms, and introduces a large number of developer features such as file system and WebCodecs API to PC.
Chrome 86 will support Security Checks on Android and iOS, including enhanced Safe Browsing on Android and improved password filling on iOS. Not only can the program identify when a password has been compromised, it can also take users directly to the appropriate "Change Password" form. It's tied into Google's Safe Checkup, which scans for infected passwords, makes sure Chrome is up to date, and checks whether the Safe Browsing feature is enabled.
For PC platforms, new features such as file system, back cache, and WebCodecs API are introduced. The native file system API allows users to grant read and write access to specified files/folders to web applications for an easier and more user-friendly experience.
Back cache can be used for users to achieve instant navigation on previously visited pages; the new API supports the placement of cross-screen windows, which can provide a better multi-screen experience on the Web; WebCodecs can be used for game streaming, transcoding and other applications Provides an application programming interface for the underlying decoder; the WebHID API enables browsers to directly support human interface (HID) devices, even if the underlying operating system may not support it.
