To help prevent and treat Covid-19, adequate hand hygiene is one of the daily measures recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Recently, Samsung developed a "hand washing" app for its watches. It facilitates this action through regular reminders, trackers, and corresponding watch face features.
Agencies such as the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) promote proper handwashing practices as a primary source of protection against microbe-related illnesses, including Covid-19.
To this end, the Samsung Research Institute Bangalore (SRI-B) UX and Wearables team has developed a hand washing app for Tizen OS.
This app helps users ensure they form a good hand-washing habit through scheduled reminders.
The program can also track the number of times a user washes their hands each day, using the watch's sensor to assess the effectiveness of the user's handwashing.
This ability to schedule notifications and improve handwashing techniques, combined with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards (such as the “20-second” rule), can help people prevent COVID-19 while forming good handwashing habits.
Additionally, the app is now available for download on all Galaxy watches.
XDA's contributors report that the handwashing app also works with other Samsung smartwatch lines, such as the Gear series.
