CAD was born in the 1960s when the Massachusetts Institute of Technology proposed a research plan for interactive graphics. Due to the expensive hardware facilities at the time, only General Motors and Boeing used self-developed interactive graphics systems. Computer-aided design (CAD-Computer Aided Design) refers to the use of computers and graphics equipment to help designers perform design work. The earliest applications of CAD were in large companies in the automobile manufacturing, aerospace, and electronics industries. As computers became cheaper, their applications broadened.
