Android is a semi-open source operating system based on Linux, mainly used for mobile devices, developed and led by Google and the Open Handheld Device Alliance. The Android system was originally created by Andy Rubin and initially supported mobile phones. It was acquired by Google on August 17, 2005. On November 5, 2007, Google formed the Open Handset Alliance (Open Handset Alliance) with 84 hardware manufacturers, software developers and telecom operators to jointly develop and improve the Android system and produce smartphones equipped with Android, and gradually expanded to tablet computers and other fields. Subsequently, Google released the Android source code under the Apache free open source license.
