OS X is an exclusive operating system developed by Apple for the Mac series of products. OS X is the pre-installed system for Apple's Mac series products, embodying the purpose of simplicity everywhere. OS X is the world's first comprehensive operating system using an "object-oriented operating system" based on the FreeBSD system. The "object-oriented operating system" was developed by NeXT, a company founded by Steve Jobs in 1985 after he was forced to leave Apple. Later Apple acquired NeXT. Steve Jobs returned as CEO of Apple, and the Mac OS system that Mac began to use was integrated into the Openstep system developed by NeXT.
