Ethernet Controller Zone

Ethernet is a baseband LAN standard invented by Xerox Corporation. It uses the carrier sense multiple access protocol with conflict detection, the rate is 10Mbps, and the transmission medium is coaxial cable. Ethernet was developed in the 1970s to solve scattered and occasional congestion in the network, and the IEEE802.3 standard was successfully developed in 1980 based on the original Ethernet technology. Now, the term Ethernet refers to all LANs that use the CSMA/CD protocol. Ethernet version 2.0 was jointly developed by Digital Equipment Corporation, Intel Corporation and Xerox Corporation. It is compatible with IEEE802.3.
