Comrades who have made CHM help files may have encountered the following two problems:

A friend asked me to make a CHM file. After struggling all afternoon, I encountered the above two problems.

Choose the software first, find a lot, now briefly introduce

Microsoft's htmlhelp.exe is relatively powerful, but in English, it is also very troublesome to operate.

It takes less than 1 minute to create a CHM file, but the resulting file is very strange and many pages cannot be compiled successfully. The result is that some pages display well, and some pages "the page cannot be displayed." After taking a closer look, I found that there are many pages in it. The formulas on the page are also not displayed. There is no way, Help and Manual do not support Chinese well.

There are many others that I have tried, maybe due to operational errors, and none of them work very well, so I won’t introduce them.

Finally, I focused my attention on EasyCHM.

How to use it is simple:

1. First create a folder. All future files will be placed in this folder. In this folder, create a subfolder named after the title of each chapter. Use WORD to convert the files you want to make into an e-book. Into htm, please note that it is converted into "filtered web page". I have tried converting it into "web page" and the final image is not displayed. Then put these files into the folder of the corresponding chapter, one file for each section, and write the name. Be careful not to have # or * characters in the name.

Then add the required files, that is, the section content (all converted htm files) in these two folders, and the preparations are completed

​ ​ 2. Open EasyCHM, "New Project Directory", it is best to choose under the newly created main folder. After confirming, the software will automatically generate the directory, and you can easily edit the content using the software's tools.

3.Compile

Now focus on seeing if the pictures in the file are displayed. Everything is OK.

In addition, if the CHM file can be opened locally but cannot be displayed on another computer, please refer to the following two methods.

​ ​ 1. When opening, "Do you want to open this file? Always ask before opening this file" will appear. Uncheck the "Always ask before opening this file" option, and then open it, and it will be normal.
