The spine refers to the thickness of the book. The most accurate calculation method is:

The P number divided by 2 times 0.001346 times the number of grams of paper = spine.

P number: refers to the total number of pages of the same type of paper. Usually an A4 paper is 2P. The design company calculates the P number based on 210mmX285mm, that is, 16 karat.

Regardless of the opening of the book, when calculating the spine, the P number is to calculate the total number of pages of the same type of paper. If there are different papers, then calculate the thickness of other papers, and finally add up to get the total thickness of the book. For example: a book: the inner pages of 80g writing paper total 240P, and there are 16P157g double copper in the middle, counting the spine.

Writing paper thickness: 240÷2×0.001346×80=12.92mm.

Thickness of coated paper: 16÷2×0.001346×157=1.69mm.

Total book thickness (spine): 12.92mm+1.69mm=14.61mm.
