MKVToolnix is a set of powerful mkv (Matroska) format production and processing tools that supports encapsulation of multiple video, audio, subtitle and other formats into mkv format. MKVToolNix includes the following MKV-specific processing tools: mkvmerge: encapsulate, merge, and mix multimedia files into MKV files; mkvinfo: output MKV file components and encoding information.

mkv: Universal video file, some contain audio, or only video; Matroska's goal is to replace the old media packaging format, the main goal of which is AVI. Extract mkv's own subtitles:
The built-in subtitles are in English, which will be difficult to read after plugging in Chinese. Use this tool to extract the built-in subtitles and replace them with Chinese subtitles. The subtitle format supports srt, ssa, ass and other subtitle formats. Generally, the srt format subtitles, open the software mmg.exe, select the first input item, then click Add to find the subtitles you want to extract. mkv file, you will see the files contained in the mkv in the track bar below. The general arrangement is video, audio, and subtitle files. There are usually one or several audio files. It depends on how many audio tracks the mkv source has. , sometimes there are 5 audio tracks. The check in front is the file you want. If you don’t want it, don’t check it. If you don’t want the subtitle file, don’t check it.
The last item is the subtitle file. Click to remove the previous check mark.
The output file name at the bottom should be from the same source. Remember to change the name, and then click to start merging. The required hard disk memory is at least the capacity of the movie. Tutorial on encapsulating subtitles:
Open the software, click Add, find the mkv file and subtitles you want to encapsulate, you must add mkv first and then add subtitles, otherwise the suffix will become mks instead of mkv when the file name is finally output.
Video, audio, and subtitle files will appear in the track bar. Just check them all. If you don’t want the extra audio tracks, you can uncheck them. They won’t be there when encapsulating.
How does mkvtoolnix extract subtitles?
1. Run mkvewizard and add the mkv file to extract subtitles.
2. Then select other options except video and audio, usually multi-language subtitles
3. Change to a file with the same name as the movie and place it in a directory
