How to use TransCAD

​ ​ 1. Open the cell layer in TransCAD (make the current layer located at the cell layer), open the menu file-new to create the matrix Matrix.

2. Create the OD matrix of the community in Excel. The format is three columns (the first column is O, the second column is D, and the third column is traffic). The numbers of O and D must be the same as the previously established Matrix. Save as dbf4 format file.

3. Open the dbf file storing OD data and the created Matrix file in TransCAD. The current layer guides Matrix. Select a row or column in the Matrix, select Import in the Matrix, and the Matrix pops up. Import Wizard, choose as follows:

Click next to proceed to the next step, select the dbf file that stores OD data in the name of Dataview to Use, Row ID selects the first column name of the dbf file, which is "O", Column ID selects the second column name of the dbf file, which is "D", Matrix file to update selects the matrix that needs to be updated.

5. Click next to proceed to the next step, select Matrix1 that needs to be updated in update Matrix, select flow in from, and click finish to complete.
