Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator is a tool released by Microsoft for creating keyboard layouts. Through it, we can define a keyboard layout ourselves and modify the input characters of keyboard keys.

How to use keyboard layout

After opening, the main interface will display an empty keyboard. Click on the square with a white background and an input box will pop up. Enter characters and click OK. The final effect is that when the key at the corresponding position is pressed on the keyboard, the text you set will be output.

If you want to completely redefine the keyboard layout, you can use the empty keyboard to set it directly. If not, you can modify it based on the existing keyboard layout and click File - Load on the upper toolbar. Existing Keyboard, and then select a commonly used keyboard in the pop-up window, such as an American keyboard.

Loading an existing keyboard layout After loading is completed, the keyboard layout will become the selected keyboard.

The selected keyboard layout can be modified directly by clicking on the white background square. Did you notice the selection box on the left? Shift, Alt, Ctrl, Caps Lock.

In special cases, if you check them, the keyboard layout will be updated to the state when they are activated. For example, if Shift is checked, all the letters on the keyboard layout will become uppercase. At this time, to modify the characters on the square, the modification is to hold down Shift and enter characters.

Modify the keyboard layout in different states Alt+Ctrl can also be used as the alt key on the right side of the keyboard. As shown in the picture above, after modification, when pressing Ctrl+Alt or the Alt key on the right, and then pressing the corresponding key on the keyboard, our modified characters will be input.

After all modifications are completed, you can click Project - Validate Layout above to verify whether there are any errors, or you can select Test Keyboard Layout, experiment with the modified effect in the pop-up window.

Click on Project - Properties and enter a name for our keyboard. Other options can be set as needed.

Name the keyboard and click Project - Build DLL and Setup Package to generate an installation package for the customized keyboard. It is recommended to click File - Save first Source File(As), save the ongoing project for later modification. After saving the project, if you need to modify it later, you can use the Load Source File option to load it.

After generating the installation package, click Yes, the directory where the installation file is located will be opened directly, and you can directly double-click the Setup.exe file to install.

                                                                             Install the custom keyboard layout and restart after the installation is complete, you will be able to see our keyboard layout.

                           When you need to enter the set characters when you customize the keyboard, switch to our keyboard input. Customized keyboards can be uninstalled and deleted at any time through the control panel.

Keyboard layout installation steps

​ 1. Download the official version of the keyboard layout installation package from Huajun Software Park. After unzipping, double-click the "exe" file to enter the installation wizard and click Next

​ ​ 2. Read the license agreement, click "I Agree", and click Next

​ ​ 3. Click "Browse" to select the installation location. Generally, it defaults to C drive. It is recommended to install on D drive. Click Next.

4. The software information is ready, click Next to install

5. The software is being installed, please wait patiently.
