The official version of MapInfo Professional is a very easy-to-use desktop geographic information software. MapInfo
Professional official version software has basic operations such as graphic input and editing, graphic query and display, database operation, spatial analysis and graphic output. It integrates computer map methods, uses geographic database technology, and adds geographic information system analysis functions. , able to provide popular small map information systems for all walks of life.
MapInfo ProfessionalSoftware introduction
The software adopts a menu-driven graphical user interface and provides users with 5 types of toolbars (main toolbar, drawing toolbar, common toolbar, ODBC toolbar and MapBasic toolbar). The user enters the conversation state through commands on the menu bar or buttons on the tool bar. The viewing table windows provided by the system are: map window, browsing window, statistics window, and layout window to help output the design, and the output results can be easily output to a printer or plotter.
MapInfo ProfessionalFeatures
1. [Graphic input and editing]
The input of graphics is to digitize or convert various map information data to obtain the basic graphics data organization of MapInfo - table. Depending on the data source, handheld digitizers, scanner input, or other standard data formats can be imported. Such as AutoCAD (.DXF and .DWG), Intergraph (.DGN), ESRI’s ArcView
Shape data, etc.
Using the drawing toolbar provided by MapInfo, the key points for digital input and editing of maps are:
1. Correctly set the coordinate system, projection, map direction and units of the map
MapInfo supports multiple map projection methods. When users digitize a map, they must first set the coordinate system and projection used by the map. Since most maps have pointed out these two items in the legend, users can choose the coordinate system provided by MapInfo (stored in the text file MAPINFOW.PRJ), and modify MAPINFOW.PRJ to obtain a new coordinate system. To display a raster map in MapInfo, the image must be registered and its projection set. Since the process of projecting a map is usually not completely reversible, you should make a backup copy; secondly, set the map units used according to the selected coordinate system. For example, a map in longitude/latitude projection will display map coordinates in degrees.
2. Set control point coordinates
In order to correctly interpret the position of the digitizer's moving head when tracking the map, the control point coordinate parameters must be set on the map. Select at least 4 control points. The more control points, the more accurate the coordinate transformation from the digitizing tablet to the map. The selected control points should be discrete, such as not on a straight line. Control points can be added, modified, and deleted in the system, and the control points can be saved in the workspace.
3. Drawing and editing tools
MapInfo has a complete set of drawing and editing tools, as shown in Figure 8-2. When editing a layer, you must first select the "Layer Control" command from the map menu or use the "Layer Control" tool button to make the layer editable.
4. Edit the map by reshaping geographical elements
The map editing method can reshape areas, polylines, straight lines, arcs and points on the map layer. This process is accomplished by moving, adding, and deleting nodes that define line segments. New points, lines, and polylines can also be created by copying and pasting selected nodes. During the editing process, you can also use the mutual conversion function between areas and polylines to view the nodes of area objects, or use auxiliary editing functions such as merging, dividing, erasing, and overlapping nodes.
5. Use the function of automatic tracking map
The function of automatically tracking objects is used to automatically track and obtain repeated boundaries to avoid repeated digitization. Turning on alignment (using the S key) activates automatic tracking. Automatic tracking is not suitable for tracking rectangles, arcs, ellipses and other graphics created by drawing tools.
2. [MapInfo data table management]
In MapInfo, the database is called a table, and two tables can be used to create, store, query and display attribute data. One is a data table, which can be divided into a data table that contains graphics (map) objects and a data table that does not contain graphics objects, such as a spreadsheet or an external data table; the other type of table is a raster table, which can only The image displayed in the map window does not have the table structure of records, fields, and indexes of the data table. Here we only discuss the relevant operations of the data table.
1. Transfer of external data
MapInfo can call dBASE database, MS Excel spreadsheet, MS
Access database, Lotus1-2-3 and ASCll files, etc. The file type is selected in the "Open Table" window in File->Open on the menu. External tables entering the system must be saved as MapInfo tables using the "Save As" command under the File menu before they can be edited.
2. Data table maintenance
In MapInfo, you can directly change the structure of the data table, such as adding or deleting fields; changing the order, name, type, width or index of the fields; setting or determining the projection of the table from the dialog box; you can also delete the data table and rename it Data tables and compressed table structures to reduce disk space.
3. Operations on data tables
MapInfo’s table operation commands (except queries) are concentrated in the menu item "Table", mainly including:
(1) Create new tables, add, modify, display, and delete data records;
(2) Update column command
Used to quickly and visually update the table. First select the object, select Table -> Update Column on the menu, and fill in the Update Column dialog box.
(3) Aggregated data
MapInfo provides many powerful aggregation functions to derive new information.
Aggregation functions include:
Average calculates the average;
Count counts the number of records in a group;
Minimum finds the minimum value of all records in a group;
Maximum finds the maximum value of all records in a group;
Sum calculates the sum of all record values in a group;
Weighted Average gives one value a higher weight than another when calculating the average;
Proportion Sum adjusts the total calculation based on how much of one object is within another object;
Proportion Average adjusts the average calculation based on how much of one object is within another object;
Proportion Weighted adjusts the weighted average calculation based on how much of one object is within another object.
(4) Geocoding
This is a way to display the original non-mapped database records in a map to view the map distribution of the data. In order to observe data on a map, positioning coordinates must be assigned to each record so that the data in the record matches the map. There are several different methods of geocoding, the "Geocoding by Boundaries" method is explained here. Here "boundary" refers to an enclosed area or area. The essence of "geocoding by boundary" is to assign the X and Y coordinates of the boundary center to each data record in the table. In this way, the data records can be displayed with specified symbols at each boundary center in the map window. Once geocoding is complete, use the Find command to locate individual records or objects.
3. [Query function]
The MapInfo system provides users with a powerful and flexible query function, which is called the Selection function in the system. By selecting, you can directly query the information of the corresponding data table from the map, or you can use the SQL provided by the system.
Selection retrieves the corresponding data and map information from the data table. The system uses a temporary table (Selection table) to store the selection results. The temporary table can also perform many operations used on the basic table, such as browsing, statistics, copying or editing tables, and can further generate new Selections.
1. Select from the map
(1) Use the tools and menu commands in the main toolbar to make selections. The main selection tools are:
Any of the selection tools introduced above can select multiple or all objects (when selecting multiple objects, you need to hold down the Shift key and click on the objects you want to select one by one); you can also select the "Select All" command from the "Query" menu. All objects. Select the "Deselect All" command to undo all selections. When you want to view the information of the selected data, you can call up the dialog box from the "New Browser Window" command and select the "Selection Table" of the selected data.
(2) Use tools to view map information, such as using the information tool to view the corresponding data information of the map object hit; using the legend tool to view the legend used on the current map; using the ruler tool to calculate and display the distance between points on the map distance etc.
2. Use SQL Selection to select
Use the "Select" command on the "Query" menu to query a single base table. According to the conditions created by the user, the results are selected from the table and the map object of the selected record is displayed in the map window. The selected table can be browsed, queried, mapped or created like other tables. Use the "Save As" command to create a results table.
