WeChat has recently quietly launched a number of grayscale tests. Three new functions have accurately hit users’ high-frequency pain points such as interruptions in group chats, mis-delivered messages, and storage shortages, bringing significant upgrades in experience. The details are as follows:

Previously, WeChat’s “Do Not Disturb Messaging” always had “loopholes” – even if mute was turned on, notifications would still pop up as scheduled when being @, receiving @everyone reminders, or group announcements, making it difficult to truly isolate interference. This update has made key optimizations to this function: the original "Following Group Members" option has been replaced by "The following messages will still be notified", and three independent control buttons "@Me", "@Everyone" and "Group Announcement" are added to the interface. Each option can be turned on or off independently.
This means that as long as all three switches are turned off, no matter whether text, pictures, voice or files are sent in the group, no mobile phone notifications will be triggered, truly achieving "zero interruption" in group chat. For groups with low frequency of attention, such as advertising groups and chat groups, or when you need to focus on work or rest, this optimization can be called a "silent artifact."
Undo function upgrade: clear multiple messages sent by mistake with one click
In the past, when sending wrong messages, you could only withdraw them one by one by long-pressing them. If you have to send multiple messages in a row with a slick hand, it is easy to get into a panic. The new version has finally made up for this shortcoming: press and hold any message sent within two minutes in the chat box and click "Withdraw", and the pop-up window will add a "Withdraw all messages sent this time" option.
After clicking this option, the texts, pictures, voices, emoticons and other contents sent continuously this time can be withdrawn at once without repeated operations. However, attention should be paid to the time limit - ordinary messages need to be operated within 2 minutes of being sent, and if file messages such as Word and Excel are sent in the form of "files", the withdrawal window can be extended to 3 hours. In addition, text messages can still be re-edited within 5 minutes after being withdrawn, further improving operational efficiency. After withdrawing, the other party will receive a prompt that "the other party has withdrawn a message" to ensure communication transparency.
Chat history management: Android users can finally “move records to a new home”
The "Chat History Management" function launched on iOS in June this year has finally been synced to Android. The entrance can be found in "Me - Settings - Chat". The original "Migration" and "Backup and Restore" functions have been integrated and optimized into two modules: "Import and Export" and "Backup and Restore": Through "Import and Export", chat records can be migrated directly between different devices without relying on complicated operations; "Backup and Restore" supports encrypted backup of records to external storage devices such as USB flash drives and mobile hard drives, so that data can be quickly restored when the phone is replaced or the device is lost.
This change not only solves the problem of transferring records across devices, but also "moves" chat data that takes up a lot of space out of the phone, reducing the burden on storage space from the source. Many users who were troubled by the "storage full" reminder finally "breathed a sigh of relief."
Currently, these three functions are still in the grayscale testing stage, and only some users can experience them first. However, judging from feedback, their design that accurately addresses actual needs has made many users look forward to their full launch.
