Optimizing Maxthon Browser can be carried out from six aspects, including startup speed, multi-threading, reducing CPU usage, locking label width, specifying aliases for search engines and displaying pop-up windows normally.
The first step is to optimize startup speed
Enter the "Maxthon Settings Center" through the "Tools" menu. Uncheck "Check for version updates at startup" in "Startup" to speed up startup. If you do not use Maxthon's built-in feed reader, you can also cancel all items in "Feed Subscription" to further improve the loading speed.
The second step is to enable multi-threading
After entering the "Maxthon Settings Center", find "Open new tabs in independent threads" in the "User Interface" settings area of "Advanced Options" and activate this feature. You can test this page with this feature enabled/disabled, and the effect is very obvious.
(This feature may have been activated by default. If your browser does not activate this feature, please follow the above method to enable it)
The third step is to reduce CPU usage
First, enable the standard CPU energy-saving mode in the "Tools" menu and stop Flash and Javascript on inactive pages to reduce resource usage. Then uncheck "Enable text filtering and filtering packages" in the Ad Hunter of "Maxthon Settings Center". Although canceling text filtering will have a certain impact on the filtering effect, for CPUs with insufficient performance, ordinary filtering methods are usually sufficient. If you have installed independent anti-virus software and firewall on your computer, you can also turn off Maxthon Security Monitoring in "Security and Privacy" in the Settings Center to prevent it from taking up additional resources.
Step 4: Display the pop-up window normally
Also in "Advanced Options", find "Show pop-ups as tabs" in the "Browse" settings area and disable this feature. This feature may cause inconvenience in using the website in some cases and can be disabled manually. Use this feature with caution.
Maxthon Browser
If you enable this feature, the window will open in a new tab, causing some inconvenience.
Step 5: Lock the label width
By default, Maxthon will automatically adjust the label width. In this way, the width of the web page may be different during the loading process and after loading, causing the tab bar to move in a short period of time. If you switch tabs by clicking with the mouse at this time, it is likely that the tab will be closed by mistake.
In order to solve this problem, you can set the label style to "Fixed Width Label" in the "Tab Bar" setting of "Maxthon Settings Center". At the bottom of this page, you can also set the width of a single label at the same time. Setting the maximum and minimum values to the same value can also solve this problem better (I personally think 120~150 is more appropriate).
Step 6: Specify an alias for the search engine
Currently, you can search for corresponding keywords through the default search engine in the address bar, but it will be more troublesome to switch the search engine, and you need to manually switch the default search engine. In fact, this function can also be achieved through search engine aliases.
Open the "Search" of "Maxthon Settings Center" and manually add a search engine there. For example, Baidu assigns it the alias b and the search string is "http://www.baidu.com/s?wd=%s". Among them, %s is a wildcard character, which represents the search keyword. Add another Xunlei resource search, alias x, and the search string is "http://www.gougou.com/search?search=%us".
Use search aliases
After saving the settings, enter "x Naruto" in the address bar to directly open the Thunder search page. Similarly, enter "b keyword" in the address bar to search through Baidu.
apart? %s and %us represent different encoding methods, if the search is garbled after setting, you can try another one.
