Open the EViews software. Create working documents. Click new under file, then click workfile.
Here we analyze cross-sectional data of years, so select "integer date", enter the starting year in "start date", and enter the ending year in "end date". Click "OK"
Select "empty group" in the "quick" menu bar to create a new data group.
Enter the data into EViews software. Note that if you want to name a column of data, you can click on the first space and press the "up" direction key.
According to the method in the previous step, enter Y and X in order to name the first and second columns of data.
The preparations are done, and OLS parameter estimation can now be performed. There are two ways to quickly estimate parameters. The first method: directly enter in the EViews command box: LS Y C X
Second method: Click the "quick" menu, enter "estimate equation", in the "equation specification" dialog box that appears, select "Least Squares" and enter "Y C X". Click "ok"
At this step, the OLS estimation of the data has been made.
